Help Needed!

Salam Alaykum Readers :)

I have a dilemma that I need help with.

If anyone of you who reads this blog is a Muslim with some knowledge or even an opinion on "The lawfullness of spaying/neutering animals(specifically cats and dogs)" in Islam, please email me with your advice or any info you could point me to. Id like to see what other peoples opinions are on this issue. I will, inshallah, have the chance later in the year to conduct some classes on Islamic Animal Rights and Proper care for household pets, so I would be so grateful for help in this topic!

"Just like human beings animals need to procreate also. Perhaps animal instinct for reproduction is much more genuine that human beings (human main preoccupation
is sex not reproduction).

Nuetering/spaying is cruel -
just like enuchs in ancient China. I don't know much what Islam says about this but I guess its against the wishes of the Creator.
That's my two piece opinion. It could be crap.

Actually this is my lecturer answer when I asked his opinion.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Hana

Hello Hana! Thanks so much for that response from your professor...Whether the opinion is for it or against it I love to see the reasons of both...So what is your opinion on your professor's opinion???

Thank you again for contributing!

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sister,

Interesting. I tried looking around for an answer, but had no luck.

I don't really have an opinion about it because I can see both sides. Cruelty to animals is a sin. But does this count as that? Animals and people are created different and for different purposes, so I wouldn't compare the two.

It would be interesting to see know what the 'answer' is.. if there is one.

I pray your classes go well.

Wa'alaykum as-salaam
Love Farhana

Wa alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu Sis :)

Yes i agree with the fact that you can see both sides... I too can see that... I have found a little bit of info on it, and from what i am understanding its 50-50 for it and against it... For example: my cats are fixed. I chose that because they are a male and female and i didint want them having babies and the n having to find homes for them, id be worried all the time that i gave them to the wrong people! Also i read about the benefits of having them fixed and "for me" it out weighed the negative. Anyways, they dont feel pain, they are "put to sleep" like we are in surgery and they dont feel that pain.

But you know maybe i am wrong... Ive found this subject to ahve a thin line...i dont know!

Thanks so much for your input!
